B. W. Hamilton. Texas School Ruling Under NAACP Attack DALLAS, July 7 (UP) The Texas Board of Education's ruling to delay ending public school segregation for a year was under heavy attack today by the state branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The Executive Committee of the state NAACP drafted a resolution which said in part, "this action is -advised and incorrect so far as the law is concerned.
"The Supreme Court has effectively and clearly declared that requiring segregation in public education is in violation of the 14th Amendment." it said. The NAACP, which closed a sixday national convention here last Sunday, went on record for a September, 1955, date to end segregation in all public schools in the nation. The State Board of Education ruled Monday "it is obligated to comply with all our present state laws and practices providing for segregation in our public school system." It said the Supreme Court has not yet ruled how or when its decision should be put into effect. The board inferred it would let the Texas Legislature act on the question at its regular session next January. A July Sale Be Bedspreads Close-out.
