The Reset Surveillance Center, sometimes shortened to Reset Center, is a location in Doubutsu no Mori e+, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Inside, Mr. Resetti and his brother, Don, live and work. The Reset Center is normally inaccessible by the player and can only be entered under specific circ*mstances.

In all games, there is a reset alarm that can go off, notifying the Resettis that someone has reset. In City Folk and New Leaf, the Resettis have motorized chairs that send them out to deal with a resetter when a reset is detected.

Appearances[edit]

Doubutsu no Mori e+[edit]

A player entering the Reset Center in Doubutsu no Mori e+.

In Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Reset Surveillance Center can be accessed once per week, and to access it the player must have reset at least twice total and once within the past seven days. If the requirements are met, on a random day, hitting one of the rocks in town causes the rock to crack; hitting it again causes it to break, revealing a hole underneath which the player can enter. Inside, Mr. Resetti, Don Resetti, or both appear and have unique dialog on each visit. For Don to appear, the player must have met him before when resetting.

Animal Crossing: City Folk[edit]

A player inside the Reset Center in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the Reset Surveillance Center is located in a tunnel at the eastern end of the city. Its entrance is usually blocked by two traffic cones; however, on random evenings after 8 PM, a nearby light will be lit, and one of the cones will be pushed aside, allowing the player to enter. Inside, Mr. Resetti, Don Resetti, or both appear and have unique dialog on each visit:

  1. Resetti asks the player how they got in, gives them the silver shovel to get them to leave, and tells them to promise not to tell anyone about the Reset Center.
  2. Resetti yells at the player for coming back, before calming down and reminding them not to tell anyone about the place.
  3. Resetti asks the player how they have been, complains that there are no good shows on TV anymore, and tells the player that he is much better at controlling his anger than he used to be.
  4. Don is surprised to see the player at the Reset Center, and Resetti tells him that they are a repeat offender and a "punk". The reset alarm then goes off and Resetti is sent out to deal with the resetter.
  5. Don tells the player about Resetti's personal life while he is out dealing with a reset emergency.
  6. The player walks in on Resetti asking Don to tell something to an unspecified female member of their family who he has trouble talking to after "all that old news went down." Don then tells Resetti to get over what happened in the past, before the reset alarm then goes off and Resetti is sent out to deal with the resetter.
  7. Resetti tells the player that he is getting too old for his job and that he wonders what his life would be like if he was calmer. He begins to tell the player that he has problems of his own, but he is cut off by the reset alarm and sent out to deal with the resetter.
  8. The player walks in on Resetti yelling at Don for eating his food that he had saved. Resetti then tries to tell Don a joke, but Don cuts him off and tells his own joke.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf[edit]

Mr. Resetti shocked at seeing the player in his headquarters in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, after the player resets for the first time, Isabelle introduces Mr. Resetti to the player, and he explains that the Reset Surveillance Center was closed due to a lack of funding and that the player can use their powers as mayor to restore it. Afterward, the Reset Center is added to the list of public works projects, costing 368,000 Bells. Lloid accepts payments at the train station, and unlike all other public works projects, no completion ceremony is held. Once the Reset Surveillance Center is built, it cannot be demolished, and Mr. Resetti will appear outside the player's house when they reset; without the center, Isabelle simply tells the player that they did not save the last time they played when loading the game.

The Reset Surveillance Center appears as a brown manhole cover, and between 9 PM and 12 AM[nb 1] on clear nights the day after it rains or snows, the cover can be open, allowing the player to enter it. Inside, Mr. Resetti, Don Resetti, or both appear and have unique dialog on each visit:

  1. Mr. Resetti tells the player about how hard he has to work.
  2. Resetti tells the player how he became out of shape during the center's closure.
  3. The player catches Resetti singing to himself and wondering about how his wife and children are doing at home.
  4. The player walks in on Don telling Resetti that he needs to build proper relationships with people.
  5. Resetti notices how often the player visits and tells them that only moles can work there, before giving them Resetti's pic and telling them to keep it a secret from Don.
  6. Don tells the player that Resetti is out at the moment visiting the doctor for his back, before giving them Don Resetti's pic and telling them to keep it a secret from Resetti.
  7. Resetti and Don are mad at "HQ" for installing a voice-recognition system that sends them out when "scramble" is said. If the player walks up to the voice-recognition machine and says "scramble" into Reset Surveillance Center (6), Resetti is unwillingly sent out to deal with a detected reset.
  8. Resetti is standing near the bathroom stalls and tells the player that he has an emergency and they need to leave.
